Reds Opening Day

We were going to go down to the parade for opening day.  But, of course I got a low grade fever last night, so I didn't feel like doing something like that this afternoon.  We still ate cracker jacks, hot dogs and peanuts for lunch and the kids were all decked out in their Reds wear.

Funny Things said by my Two Year Old:

I was teasing Jillian and tickling her and I said, "I'm going to nibble on your nose."
Jillian said, "Don't eat me, I am not your lunch."

About a week ago, she was whining (shocking that a 2 yo would whine!)  Josh started talking in a whiny voice back to her and she pointed her finger at him and said, "you no whine like me!"

I was getting her up from her nap with her little pony tail all cute and I said, "You're my little ice cream Sundae."  She said, "No, I'm not your ice cream Sundae.  I'm...  I'm...  I'm your little cupcake with sprinkles on top."  Oh my word - Love Her!!

Josh opened up a bottle of his favorite wing sauce and said, "yum."  Jillian yelled out:  "Drink it Daddy!"  Wouldn't that be interesting!

As, I am typing this she is repeating in a very calm voice, "that's enough, Mommy."   Sighing in between sentences.

I love my little Jilly.  She's got the most kissable little checks and a great personality.

Sweet Shot: Kaleigha

The other day Kaleigha looked so cute with her dress and braids that I just had to take her picture...  problem was, she wasn't feeling it right away...

So, I asked her what she wanted me to take a picture of and I made a deal with her (yes, a bribe).  If she would let me take her picture, I would let her pick a picture for me to take...  hmm, what would she pick??

So, after said bribe  deal, I got these pictures:

Jillian and the Chopsticks...

Jillian didn't have much success with the chopsticks... but that didn't stop her from eating one of her favorite things - RICE!

My sweet and extremely energetic little Jillian is intense!  The other day at Sunday school she got a knot on her head because she fell over and banged her head on the metal door frame.  Later that afternoon she fell when she tripped on an imaginary line and got a raspberry on her nose.  The very next day her little fingers got shut in between the door and the frame.  She took a break on Tuesday.  Wednesday, she fell backwards off of a kitchen chair.

We have a boo-boo buddy and I bet we pull this thing out 5 times per week for this little girl :)  I do have to say, Jillian is tough as nails though!

Painted Rooms

I have been wanting to paint our sunroom and kitchen for quite awhile.  So, before Christmas Josh asked me what I wanted as a gift.  I suggested having him paint these two rooms for me and he told me to go ahead and pick out the paints.  My dear husband spent half of the week off painting these two rooms for me.

And our kitchen is this light tan color.  They compliment each other well.  And, we don't have much wall space - so not much to be able to see. 

I love the new painted rooms, thank you Josh!

Sleepover

My girls wanted to have a slumber party and they had been bugging us for about a month.  We finally caved and set them up in their sleeping bags together in Jillian's room over the weekend/

At about 11:30pm, we heard knocking on the door and our oldest said she was done with the slumber party and was ready to go back to her room.

Well, we thought that didn't last long!  And, we haven't another peep about doing a slumber party again.  At least they looked SOOOO cute snuggled up in their little sleeping bags!

My sweet little girls, I love them so much and I pray that they grow up to be best friends!

Kale Soup

Winter has surely set in - no more odd 60 degree January days here.  It snowed this week, which my girls loved and my oldest said, "It's finally Christmastime."  Uh.  Nope, Christmas is past.  She had made these window clings this summer and I thought the little astronaut looked so cute against the snow.

One of my most favorite things in the winter time is soup.  A family favorite soup that I make several times every winter is Kale Soup.  My mom always made it and I have heard she learned to make it from my Great Aunt Ethel (who passed away this past year at 101yrs old).  I LOVE Kale Soup!!

Ingredients:

5 Potatoes cut 

15 Baby carrots diced

1 cup of fast Oatmeal (plain!)

3 bunches of Kale

2 links of Polish Kielbasa 

8 cups water

salt to taste

Boil the water and add the potatoes and carrots.  I usually simmer until the potatoes and carrots are soft and a fork can pierce them.  During this time, I shred the Kale into small pieces that are as large as my palm or smaller.  Add the kielbasa and oatmeal when the potatoes are soft.  Then add the kale.  Allow to continue to simmer for 5-10 more minutes.  I prefer my Kale to lose the bright green color and become limp; and I use this as my guide to when the soup is complete.  Salt to taste.  

If your soup gets too thick, you can always add more water, a cup at a time until it is the desired consistency.  This soup is packed with wonderful nutrients!  Let me know if you try our family recipe!
